- SELF-SEALING VALVE

EPA regulations require that beginning January 1, 2018, products containing R-134a refrigerant come in cans with self-sealing valves. To meet these requirements, we have updated our entire refrigerant product lineup for 2018.
Transition background
Many current refrigerant can designs across the industry use a piercing valve system. Once these cans are activated by a gauge or can tap being attached to them, they remain active until all the refrigerant they contain has been used. If the user of the product removes the gauge or can tap before all the refrigerant is used, R-134a will leak into the atmosphere. New self-sealing systems prevent this potential leakage.

An innovative solution
The new self-sealing valve has a spring-loaded mechanism that is forced open when the trigger is depressed, and closes when the trigger is released. This will not allow any leftover refrigerant to escape once the gauge is removed.

Your previous generation gauge will still work
The DVA-1 adapter will let you use your piercing-style gauge with the new self-sealing valve cans. Just attach the DVA-1 to the self-sealing valve, then attach your gauge to the DVA-1.
